One thing that is a part of every great musical ensemble is a strong work ethic and a willingness to do things the right way. For our photo essay, we wanted to highlight the practices of the Alabama Choir School that we feel makes them a diligent group of students. We will take a look at the procedures that happen every rehearsal. Also, how artistic director Doff Procter believes the path to having a great choir comes from prompt, respectful, and organized students giving their full focus.

Instructors at the Alabama Choir School hope to instill their students with a sense of unity, and pride in their craft. Every meeting, the choir members are required to wear matching uniforms.

Our group learned about singing ensembles by doing this project. In order for any group to succeed, every member must have all of their music learned and memorized. If even one member fails to do so, it can make rehearsals a pain for the whole ensemble. We also saw just how much education goes into preparing the kids for their concerts. Through sight-singing and ear training, the Alabama Choir School has prepared its students to do work in other groups as they grow and mature as musicians.
