Children's Chorus

The Children's Chorus for talented boys and girls in grades two and three has been in existence since 1993 and is the training choir for the older Concert, Ambassador, and Chamber Choirs. Meeting once a week on Mondays from 3:30-4:45 PM, these singers focus on singing their music with a beautiful tone, learning the basic skills of music reading, hearing stories about the composers and historical eras of their music, how to perform in formal concerts, and building a team. Mr. Alex Diaz is their conductor/head teacher, with assistance from Mrs. Laurel Procter and Dr. Steven Taranto, these young musicians are led expertly each week. This training choir has often been invited to sing at local civic events, sings school concerts each semester, and always participates with all five Alabama Choir School choirs in the school's winter and spring concerts in the University of Alabama School of Music's beautiful Moody Concert Hall in December and May.
